“God exists to be worshipped—to be admired and treasured and desired and praised. Therefore, the Word of God is written primarily to produce worship. This means that if that Word is handled like a hot-dish recipe or a repair manual, it is mishandled. And the people will suffer. The Truth of God begs to be handled with exultation. And our hearts yearn for this and need it. Something in us starts to die when precious and infinitely valuable realities are handled without feelings and words of wonder and exultation. That is, a church starts to die without preaching.

But, of course, this assumes something massive. To treasure the Truth, and to love the Truth, and be impassioned about the Truth, and to exult in the Truth, you have to know the Truth. So it’s not enough to say that preaching is exultation. We must also say it is “expository exultation.” It is exultation in the Truth of God’s Word. And the exultation is in proportion to the Truth delivered.”  — John Piper

FOURTH FRIDAY FUNDAMENTALS IS ON THE FIFTH FRIDAY THIS MONTH 4/29/2011

Have you ever invited someone over to live with you, only to have them stand in the doorway?  Well that overly simplistic image captures the failure of the contemporary church as it witnesses but stops short of intentionally seeking to disciple its membership.

Discipleship is a full-orbed reaching out and pouring into the lives of others in the new covenant community.  It is life on life.

Clearly stated it encompasses relationship building, mentoring, serving one another, counseling, and teaching one another to draw near to the heart of God.  It is modeling the Christian life for those young in the faith.  It is provoking saints to love and good works…even when it’s uncomfortable to do so.  It is praying with and praying for one another.  It is rejoicing and weeping with others when the situation calls for it.

And this is a mere intro to the discussion.  Come out and get into a convo that will prayerful spark more sincere relationship building that draws saints closer to the heart of God.  Join us as we go in on the topic of Biblical Discipleship.

Hey ‘love wins’!  In the end…in the final analysis love wins.  Sounds good doesn’t it?  But what does it mean?  Does it mean that we can dispense with the urgent and joyful activity of spreading the good news ‘that salvation is granted by grace, received by faith, grounded in Christ, and reflective of the glory of God’ (Joel Beeke)?

Most assuredly not!  It is probably more accurate to say that love has won through what Christ accomplished on the Cross.

God in the Triune counsel of love, before creation itself, framed a completed plan to accomplish salvation for a people who were His enemies through the work of Christ and to draw those people into His family.  They would be drawn by God enriched conversations that communicate the meaning, purpose, and final direction of creation.

This month we set our sights on those conversations which we refer to as Biblical Evangelism.  It is not a sales pitch.  It is not an assault of logical ideas.  It is a thoughtful and provocative discussion couched in clear language colored with urgency and love.

Join the discussion that will prayerful spark more conversations.  Join us as we go in on the topic of Biblical Evangelism.

Our theme for this year is the Beautiful Church.  And starting off that year long theme is this month’s (1-28-2011) topic on Church Membership

What sort of role does it play in the life of a believer?  Is it important?  Is it necessary?  Is it even relevant?

Do the Scriptures mandate it or suggest it?  Can’t we get the benefits of church membership without actually being a member?  Let’s discuss it!

Patience is a Holy Spirit dispensed grace gift freely lavished on the people of God.  It feasts on the milk and meat of Scripture; and it uses Scripture as a comfort and guide.  This grace gift reveals itself in a built up disposition of confidence and composure to the wise and sovereign timing of the Lord.

Fourth Friday Fundamentals 8/27/10

Posted by G.R.A.C.E. Preecha

Our aim is to act as platform to bring the foundational tenets of the faith into the spotlight so that souls are refreshed and invigorated by the brilliance of the Triune God. We want to be the catalyst the Lord is pleased to use to spark a Modern Reformation in the urban context…suburban context…and anywhere else the opportunity presents itself. We attempt to do this by taking the precious revelatory Holy Writ of God (feeling a little poetic, by this I mean the Bible) and presenting it in a multi-angular fashion using various media to make it plain.

Join us August 27, 2010 @ 8:00 PM

This month we’re considering the topic of forgiveness.  Prayerfully the Lord will be pleased to both challenge and transform us all as we meditate on this fundamental Christian attitude.  Dealing with topic forgiveness, Pastor John MacArthur has said the following:

Listen, God is perfectly holy. He is thrice holy…holy, holy, holy. He is of purer eyes than to behold evil, cannot look upon iniquity. He cannot tolerate sin. He despises sin. He hates sin. And while He is forgiving there will be an end to His patience and He will not endure sin forever. There will come a time of judgment and justice. He says that all the way back in Exodus 34 and verse 7. At the same time that God is forgiving, there is an end to His forgiveness because ultimately His holiness will take over where there is impenitence. He is perfectly holy and ultimate, ultimately does require a just punishment for sin…either from the sinner or from a substitute for the sinner, namely His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. To say that is to say that God is holy and sets a holy standard, so much so that ultimately sinners unforgiven will be damned to an eternal hell of punishment. There’s no question about the extent of God’s holiness. And that in itself makes His forgiveness all the more astonishing. God then who is most holy, God who is most supremely offended forgives.

We who are unholy shall we not forgive? What is it, some kind of God complex people have who won’t forgive? Indeed it is. You have an elevated opinion of yourself who will not forgive. You have exalted yourself to a standard higher than God.

I pray this quote resonants with you throughout the week and compels you to join us this Friday.

I hope to see you there!

Grace & Peace

Even better than the next Fourth Friday’s –

Revival 2K10: Worshiping God through Preaching, Praise and Prayer

Revival 2K10 will be a time of worship and renewal as God’s people gather to worship Him through preaching, prayer and praise. We will also pray for His blessing and power for genuine revival in our churches and communities.

Speakers Doug Logan of Epiphany Fellowship of Philadelphia, Kevin Smith of Pinelands Presbyterian Church of Miami and Thurman Williams of New Song Community Church in Baltimore will exhort God’s people to worship God, walk before God and witness of the gospel of Jesus Christ as an end in and of itself.
